Natalie Richards, New York Times Bestselling Author of “page-turning thrillers'' (School Library Journal), including Five Total Strangers (2020) and Seven Dirty Secrets (2021), is here to discuss her latest work, 49 MILES ALONE (2024), her tenth bone-chilling novel, which Kirkus called “a gripping story.” She will also share her experiences writing and what it is like to be an author. Natalie lives in Ohio with her three children and (very) large dog, Wookiee.

Throwback Book Fair

Join us for an adults-only, after-hours event that captures the nostalgia of a school book fair! Revisit your favorite childhood books, find adult read-alikes, and meet local authors.

Do you remember the excitement that you felt the week of your school's book fair? Pouring over the flyer trying to figure out which popular titles you had to have, especially the ones that came with a necklace or fuzzy pen. We want to celebrate all of that at our Throwback Book Fair!

We will have adult department "read-alikes" for some of your childhood favorites, the YA books we think should be on your radar, and probably a display of horse books, this is a book fair after all.

Come meet local YA authors & hear about their latest titles, get a library card, "shop" our displays, and mingle with other book lovers! We will have after-school snacks, a photo booth, and of course STICKERS!

Guernsey County Public Library Ohio Author Festival

Join us for the Second Annual Ohio Author Festival scheduled for Saturday, September 21st 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Prichard Laughlin Civic Center located at 7033 Glenn Hwy., Cambridge, Oh. Guest speakers include Cinda Williams Chima, Natalie Richards, and Shelley Shepard Gray. Story times will be provided by youth authors Kate Hoefler, Merrill Rainey, Michelle Houts, and Steve Schubert. Featured authors include Brandy Gleason, Cambridge Writers, Heather Webber, Jacob Paul Patchen, Janet Beard, Kristy Boyce, Nichole Christoff, Rainy Day Writers, Renee Cook, and S.F. Baumgartner. Six District Compact Reading & Writing Festival

Reading & Writing Festival

Sponsored by the Six District Educational Compact, the Festival takes place annually in the spring at Kent State University. It is for 7th and 8th grade students from local schools, primarily Compact member schools. Students get to meet the featured author and participate in various sessions involving book cover art, drama, poetry, and writing contests, all pertaining to the Festival Books. Students also have the opportunity to meet professional storyteller and author Kevin Cordi, who leads a storytelling workshop session during the Festival.

This year students will be meeting Natalie D. Richards, the New York Times Bestselling author of nine "page-turning thrillers" (School Library Journal), including Five Total Strangers (2020) and Seven Dirty Secrets (2021). Four Found Dead (2023) is her ninth bone-chilling novel. The Festival is also open to any adult (parent, librarian, educator or community member) who wishes to celebrate the importance of reading and writing to the quality of life. Donations are welcome and checks should be made payable to Hudson City Schools, 2386 Hudson-Aurora Rd, Hudson, OH 44236

The fee to attend the festival is $12 per student in a Six District Compact school and $17 per student from a non-Compact school.

In 2023, the OELMA Conference will be located at OCLC in Dublin, OH, October 4th - 6th, 2023. The multi-day in-person conference and the centralized location will be a big draw for the Conference.
